General News UK Swinton: Which Van for Security?

Security is van drivers top priority when choosing a new van according to figures released today.

An online survey of 1,200 Swinton Commercial customers revealed that 36% chose van security as the most important factor when choosing a new vehicle.

The poll also found that 27% make a purchase based on price, 21% on make and model and 16% consider engine size the most important factor when choosing a new van.

According to Thatcham, the insurance industry's research organisation, the vehicle security awards 2009 honoured Peugeot 207 as the most secure light van, the Renault Trafic as the most secure heavy van and Mitsubishi L200 as the most secure pickup.

Other vans that were highly commended in the awards were the Citroen Berlingo 2008, Nissan Primastar and Nissan Cabstar.

Phil Moss, Commercial Vehicle Manager at Swinton said, "Installing security features can have a positive effect on van insurance premiums. By shopping around commercial vehicle drivers can get one of the most secure vans on the market with a decent premium to match."
